THE DOG'S HOUSE RULES

The joke is that these are the dog's rules and the humans have simply been complying for years — the sofa was always his, two walks is not a negotiation, the postman remains a threat. “Ball. Ball. Ball.” is short enough that the engine sets it enormous, which is exactly the right size for it. Then “Someone is always pleased to see you”, which is the actual reason anyone gets a dog.
